Negative comments on social networks are now very easy to find. What's more, users can easily harass (bullying) with others through the reply column or comments on social media.
To avoid this, Twitter plans to bring a new feature. This feature can later be used by users to control or limit who can reply (reply) an uploaded tweet.
The plan to launch this feature was delivered by Twitter's Director of Product Management Suzzane Xie on the 2020 Consumer Electronic Show (CES) stage in Las Vegas, USA.
This feature will later appear when the user will upload a tweet. Before uploading, a menu will appear to determine who can reply to the tweet.
The menu will appear in the "Conversation participants" setting located in the compose window. That's where users will be able to choose who can reply to the tweet that will be uploaded.
There are four regulatory options, namely "Global" (anyone can reply), "Group" (only people to follow and to mention), "Panel" (only people to be mentioned), and "Statement" (not allow anyone to reply to tweets).
However, other Twitter users can still use the quote or Retweet with comment feature to quote the tweet even though the reply column (reply) has been limited.
According to Xie, the retweet with comment feature can be used if Twitter users want to argue, or simply refute a tweet that cannot be replied to because of the new feature.
The Twitter restriction feature will start testing in the first quarter of 2020, as we successfully gathered from TheVerge, Thursday (01/09/2020).
In the trial period, in addition to reviewing problems that might arise, Twitter will also oversee the Retweet with comment feature so that it is not misused as a loophole for negative comments.
If the trial period is over and there are no problems, then the feature is planned to start being distributed to all Twitter users in 2020.
